a good last few days…

The last few days have been interesting, but productive.

My internet moden died on me back on Monday, which explains why I haven’t updated. I have been getting a lot of work done though, which is the positive effect no internet has on my work.

I finished all of my worldbuilding yesterday morning, and took the rest of the day off. It was nice to rest and recharge, preparing to sit down to write a hell of a first draft. The fact that I finished the planning, got up this morning, made some tea, and plunked my butt down in this terribly uncomfortable computer chair to write amazes me. I’m surprised and thrilled that not an ounce of procrastination loomed before me.

Yesterday, I also spent about an hour laying out underneath the tree in my backyard just thinking. I haven’t done that in a long time, just amused myself with what my imagination has in store for me. I need to make that part of my daily routine. Ideas for future works are abundant, and so I’m keeping track of them on my big page of ideas.

This morning I woke, probably around 8, sat down and churned out 18 pages of text. That’s very small text. Verdana, size 8, bold. My favorite font to use for writing because it’s small. Because then once I have an impressive number of pages and I put it in a normal size font, it looks so much more impressive.

I only worked for half a day, so I’m spending the rest of it with my family.

I’m tempted to go back, read and revise, but so many authors advise against that until the first draft is finished. However, I think that I have too much dialogue and not enough character thoughts which limits the characterization.

Something to keep in mind as I press forward.

I also wrote two reviews at writingforums.org. I find I actually quite enjoy that. There are some talented authors over there. When I decide to share my works with the world, I look forward to them helping me out as I’ve helped them. =]
